MokaFive version 1.5 released!

After months of effort, MokaFive is happy to announce the availability of version 1.5.  This is a major upgrade with some substantial new features:

  • • USB copy protection
  • • Single Screen Sign-On
  • • Bulk USB provisioning
  • • Support for local USB printers
  • • User personalization for Active Directory
  • • Encryption password reset
  • • Control of MokaFive Player software updates
  • • Clipboard cut/paste policy restriction
  • • Bulk user create/update/delete

• USB copy protection
This feature prevents unauthorized copying of LivePC appliances from deployed USB devices to
other devices.  An administrator can set the copy protection policy on a LivePC appliance, and
this ties the LivePC appliance to the deployed USB device. If the LivePC appliance is copied to a
non‐approved device, it is locked and does not run.

• Single Screen Sign‐On
Remote users of corporate LivePC appliances typically need to login to both a VPN and the AD
domain using two different dialogs along with multi‐factor authentication such as RSA SecurID.
This feature simplifies this login process and provides a better user experience by combining
these two login dialogs into a customizable single sign‐on dialog.

• Bulk USB provisioning
MokaFive bulk USB provisioning feature streamlines the process for mass deployment of LivePC
appliances on USB drives. This feature allows personalization of each deployed LivePC appliance
with unique AD domain join information. It also supports USB drive duplication by the
administrator himself or by an outsourced duplication service.

• Support for local USB printers
This feature provides automatic pass‐through of host USB printers into the LivePC appliance,
and allows a user to print to a USB printer connected to the host from inside the LivePC
appliance. This feature can be enabled or disabled by the administrator from the central
management console.

• User Personalization for Active Directory
Computer identity, group policy, time zone, and other settings in the LivePC appliance now
automatically persist across rejuvenation and updates. This allows administrators to update
LivePC appliances without requiring AD domain rejoins.

• Encryption password reset
An administrator can now reset a user’s encryption password from the central management
console in case the user forgets the password.

• Control of MokaFive Player software updates
This feature allows an administrator to control when MokaFive Player software is updated and
to what version.

• Clipboard cut/paste policy restriction
This is a new policy restriction allowing the administrator to enable or disable the cut/paste of
clipboard information between LivePC appliance and the host.

• Bulk User Create/Update/Delete
This feature allows an administrator to import a list of AD users into MokaFive management
console by exporting users from AD into a CSV file and importing the CSV file into the
management console. It also allows the administrator to update and delete multiple users using
a CSV file.

There were also some significant product improvements:

• Improved MokaFive Player portable installer and updater
This release comes with a new portable installer that can install cross‐platform MokaFive Player
onto a USB drive from either Microsoft Windows or Macintosh. This USB drive can then be used
to launch MokaFive Player on either Microsoft Windows or Macintosh platforms. In addition,
MokaFive Player automatic update process has been enhanced to work for the cross‐platform
USB drives.

• Improved proxy support for the Macintosh platform
MokaFive Player for the Macintosh now has NTLM support for the ISA proxy, and has better
support for Proxy auto‐config (PAC) files.

• New MokaFive Guest Tools installation
The new MokaFive guest tools installer streamlines the install process and includes components
for Single Screen Sign‐on and improved support for Active Directory.

• Multiple administrator accounts per Tenant
MokaFive management console allows for multiple administrator accounts per tenant account.

• Support for the latest versions of VMware
MokaFive Player and Creator now have support for VMware Workstation 6.5, VMware Player
2.5, and VMware Fusion 2.0.

As always, get it here.  Thanks for using MokaFive!
